iPhone 2018 production preparation

Apple called on its supply chain to deliver various components related to OLED screens early. This is done in order not to delay the launch, such as iPhone X, in November last year. Apple's most premium smartphone was just released two months after the launch of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

Several sources told the Nikkei Asian Review that Apple is working hard to bring a 3D face scanning system for Face ID to work on LCD panels. All new iPhone this year is expected to have a face recognition system.

The OLED panel for the iPhone will be produced by Samsung, while the LCD comes from LG Display and Japan Display.

Yuanta Securities Investmen Consulting said Foxconn will assemble 100 percent of the iPhone with a 5.8 inch screen size, 80 to 90 percent for the "Plus" variant of 6.5 inches and 30 percent for 6.1-inch LCD variants.

Pegatron's contract manufacturing will assemble 60 percent of LCD variants and 10 percent of iPhone Xs Plus. The rest will be produced by Wistron.
