Apple cut 20 percent of iPhone 2018 components?

Apple is reportedly going to cut 20 percent of component orders needed to produce the iPhone in 2018. According to the Nikkei Asian Review report, this information comes from four trusted sources.

Quoted from Phone Arena, Monday (11/06/2018), four people said that Apple will cut production capacity of three new iPhone variants by 20 percent.

"Apple is pretty conservative in terms of orders for the new iPhone this year," said a source in the supply chain. "For three new models in particular, the total planned capacity is 20 percent less than last year."

Apple last year told suppliers that companies need different components to produce 100 million iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.

If the rumor of trimming 20 percent of orders in the supply chain is true, referring to orders last year, Apple is likely to plan to produce 80 million iPhone 2018 units.

Based on previous reports, Apple is said to be releasing three new iPhone variants this year, namely iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Plus with 6.5-inch screen, and iPhone 9 in September 2018. iPhone 9 will reportedly have a 6.1-inch LCD screen .

iPhone Xs and Xs Plus will have OLED screens, whose production is expected to be completed by August 2018. However, these three new smartphones will not go on sale until September 2018.
